Pair of Vintage Chinoiserie Table Lamps

A pair of vintage chinoiserie table lamps, each a glazed ceramic baluster vase worked in dense bands of scrolling peony and chrysanthemum on a dark ground, picked out in gilt, soft ochre, and pale lilac, and raised on a turned ebonised base. The vases are crowned by their original spatter-gilt shades, hand-finished in gold and black so that no two are quite alike. Sold as a matched pair, they flank a console, a bed, or a sideboard beautifully, and throw a warm, even light through the aged shades. A decorative vintage pairing with real presence, offered honestly as a decorator’s set rather than antique porcelain.
