A herd of elephants carved in deep relief from a single teak trunk section, the composition following the timber’s natural form so the live edges and sculptural top become part of the work. Adults and calves emerge from the grain in the Chiang Mai carving tradition, with remarkable texture in the hides and trunks. The natural checks and character of the old timber are shown honestly in the photographs; a fitted bracket on the reverse makes it ready to hang, and it stands just as confidently against a wall.
