Elephant Mother and Calf Tree Trunk Carving

A mother elephant and her calf carved in deep relief from a hollowed tree trunk section, the raw outer wood left as a weathered canopy above the polished figures. The carving is unusually fine for the form, from the mother’s textured hide and expressive eye to the calf sheltering beneath her, trunk raised. A keyhole bracket on the reverse makes it ready to hang, and it stands just as naturally on a floor, console, or plinth.
