A Teochew cabinet in deep red lacquer, carved and gilded on five faces: two pierced drawer fronts, two door panels worked with figures among pines, clouds, and lattice borders, and both side panels carved with treasure and ribbon motifs. The doors close on a traditional brass bolt with pierced backplates and open to a shelved interior finished in dark red. Cabinets from the Chaozhou workshops carry some of the densest carving in southern Chinese furniture, and this one reads as a jewel box at room scale. At just over 90 cm tall, it works in an entryway, beside a sofa, or as a quietly commanding bedside piece.
